We are seeking a dependable, safety-minded individual to join our transportation team as a Part-Time School Bus Driver. This position plays an important role in ensuring students and staff arrive at their destinations safely and on time. The ideal candidate will bring excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety, and a friendly, professional demeanor in serving our school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a school bus, following all traffic laws and district regulations.
- Transport students and staff to and from school, field trips, athletic events, and other activities.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in safe operating condition.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior.
- Communicate clearly with students, parents, and school staff about schedules and route updates.
- Monitor and maintain appropriate student behavior to ensure a safe ride.
- Promptly report any accidents, incidents, or mechanical issues.
- Attend required safety meetings and training sessions.
- Assist in creating and refining efficient routes when needed.
- Respond appropriately in emergencies to ensure passenger safety.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
- Safe driving record with no major violations.
- Previous experience driving a bus or similar vehicle is preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to stay calm and make quick decisions in emergencies.
- Knowledge of traffic laws and school transportation safety standards.
- Physical ability to assist students with special needs as required.
- Availability for split shifts (early mornings and afternoons) and occasional extra hours for events.
