Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to inspire and support students with diverse learning needs. - Design and execute tailored lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and meet the unique needs of each student, including literacy, math, speech therapy, and behavioral health strategies
- Develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to set achievable goals for students with disabilities
- Implement evidence-based behavioral management techniques and behavioral therapy methods to support positive behavior and social skills development
- Adapt instructional materials for students with autism, deaf education needs, or other developmental disabilities, ensuring accessibility and engagement
- Conduct assessments, standardized testing, and progress evaluations to measure student growth and inform instructional adjustments
- Collaborate effectively with speech therapists, occupational therapists, counselors, and parents to coordinate interventions and support services
- Manage classroom behavior proactively through classroom management strategies that foster a safe, inclusive environment conducive to learning
- Provide mentorship and tutoring to students who require additional academic support or early intervention services
- Maintain detailed documentation of student progress, IEP implementation, behavioral incidents, and communication logs
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood development, special education best practices, Montessori or preschool methodologies, and library services relevant to early childhood education
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Childhood Development, or a related field
- Valid teaching certification/license for special education as required by Pennsylvania Department of Education
- Proven classroom experience working with children with disabilities or developmental delays in a school setting
- Strong understanding of IEP development, curriculum adaptation, and lesson planning for diverse learners
- Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), hearing impairments (deaf education), or behavioral health needs
- Familiarity with speech therapy techniques, behavioral management strategies, literacy education, math instruction, and standardized testing procedures
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with families, colleagues, therapists, and community resources
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering a positive learning environment
- Knowledge of early intervention programs and preschool or Montessori educational approaches is advantageous
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education principles and supporting children’s social-emotional growth
