Accounting Manager | Tampa Bay, FL | 100k-120k + Full Benefits
Join a small growing organization as its accounting leader where your technical depth, people leadership, and process improvement instincts will have direct and visible impact on how the finance function operates. This is a hands-on position who is equally comfortable managing the details of all areas of accounting and collaborating with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial decisions. You will own all daily accounting operations and lead a team of one while serving as a trusted cross-functional resource. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full month-end and year-end close process
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and consistency of all financial data
- Execute daily accounting operations across general ledger
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP
- Prepare and deliver weekly and monthly financial reports, including sales tax filings
- Identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely and thorough manner
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis in close partnership with senior leadership
- Translate financial data, reports, and processes into clear, accessible language for team members and leaders without an accounting background
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third-party professionals
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, strengthen internal controls, and increase system efficiency
- Assist with the implementation and ongoing optimization of accounting systems and ERP platforms
- Support special projects and cross-functional initiatives as a collaborative resource across the organization
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- CPA a plus
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP
- Proven experience owning month-end close, financial statement preparation, and account reconciliations
- Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing deadlines
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience improving and/or automating accounting processes
