A medical assistant is responsible for providing support to health care providers and patients to ensure efficient of operations and excellent patient care. They are to complete responsibilities accurately and completely and in a timely fashion with high-quality results.
Responsibilities
- Interview patients and document a complete medical history
- Evaluate and document patient's’ vital signs
- Assist health care providers with patient examinations, clinical procedures, and patient care
- Ensure necessary consent forms are completed and signed prior to procedures
- Prepare and clean examination rooms and sterilize instruments
- Document the plan of care as dictated by the health care provider
- Clarify the treatment plan for the patient, as needed
- Assist in fitting the patient with prescribed items such as ankle braces, walking boots, etc.
- Ensure follow-up appointments are scheduled and care instructions, written or verbal, are given to the patient
Job Requirements
- MUST HAVE MEDICAL ASSISTING EXPERIENCE
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Friendly and engaging demeanor
- Proficiency in typing and navigating EHR systems and other computer programs
- Ability to work well with other employees and health care providers
- Strong work ethic and experience in managing time well and prioritizing responsibilities
- Some walking, standing, bending, desk work and lifting up to 40 pounds; physically demanding
- Understanding of and compliance with HIPAA requirements and patient privacy
- Commitment to ethical practices and excellent patient care
- Positive attitude and desire to be a team player
- Long-term commitment required
