Southwest Drill Bits, LLC is seeking a skilled PDC Shop Technician to assemble and repair PDC bits in our growing business line.
The PDC Shop Technician will be responsible for managing the assembly and repair of the drill bits. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong work ethic, and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in PDC cutter brazing, MIG welding, and hard facing and flame spray materials.
Roles and Responsibilities
The PDC Shop Technician will be responsible for performing all steps in the Assembly and Repair process including but not limited to:
- Incoming inspection of used PDC drill bits sent in for repair
- Application and/or repair of hard facing
- Preparation and brazing of PDC cutters
- Use of shop equipment including washing, sand blasting and OD grinding equipment
- MIG welding of shank and crown sections (upper and lower sections)
- Final clean up, painting and boxing of completed PDC drill bits.
- Monitoring of shop supplies inventory and communication of needed materials to support production
Requirements
- 5+ years of PDC drill bit assembly and/or repair experience
- Proficiency in the application of hard facing and flame spray materials to PDC bits
- Experience and technical knowledge of the PDC cutter brazing process
- Experience with MIG welding processes including the welding of PDC drill bits
- Experience with the use of washing, sand blasting and OD grinding equipment
- Rigging and lifting experience including the use of crane and hoist equipment
- Experience with operation of forklift/lift truck equipment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
