Position: Intervention Specialist Mild - Moderate (2 positions) at Newark High SchoolRequested by: Tom Bowman Approved by: Barbara Quackenbush Qualifications/Requirements: Applicant must: Possess a valid Ohio Education of the Handicapped Licensed/Certificate with SLD, CD validation (candidates with multiple special education validations preferred) or Intervention Specialist: Mild-ModerateBe aware of the social and emotional needs of each individual studentDemonstrate the ability to identify individual student needsComplete all IEPs and ETRs to remain compliantCreatively develop and implement integrated and functional activities to teach the contact standardsEffectively differentiate instructionEfficiently use student data to determine individual needs, develop targeted learning plans, and monitor ongoing progressServe students with a variety of handicapping conditions as well as at-risk students within an intervention or inclusion settingEffectively plan, design and implement a variety of behavior management strategiesPossess strong communication and organizational skillsDemonstrate the ability to collaborate with parents, special and regular education staff, students, related service personnel and community agencies in the delivery of services to students with disabilitiesBe objective, flexible, and have an understanding of students with disabilities.Participate in department, building and district professional development opportunities relating to the education of students with disabilitiesBe acceptable to the Building Principal, Director of Student Services & Assistant Superintendent of Certificated/Licensed PersonnelEffective Starting Date: 2026-2027 school year
