Overview
- Ensure compliance with all the regulations of the New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC).
- Works with the Store Manager to maximize sales and profits, maximize labor productivity, and reduce shrink. Monitor weekly, period and quarterly department results and performance against budget. With Store Manager, develops effective action plans for under-performing areas.
- With the Store Manager, ensures the proper retail and sales pricing as well as the accuracy of all item files in ICS.
- Oversee and coach Store Associates on the implementation and execution of weekly sales plans to ensure proper inventory levels, in-stock positions, availability of specials, holiday and seasonal items, department standards, and presentation. Maintain and submit required records and reports, including labor schedules, payroll, RIP logs, off-site inventories, personnel paperwork and files.
- Walk the store routinely to evaluate and assess department conditions, building maintenance, product levels, merchandising standards, staffing, and customer service levels.
- Oversee approved procedures for receiving, stocking and POS signage.
- Responsible for all opening and closing procedures, i.e. balancing cashiers and the safe as well as daily, stock value and Gross Profit reports.
- Control shrink by monitoring front end as well as potential customer and employee theft.
- Ensure the proper orientation, training; salesmanship and product knowledge of store Associates. Identify, train and develop Associates to further their growth and skill levels for the benefit of both the individual Associate and the overall Sunrise Cellars operation. With the feedback from the Store Manager, complete and conduct performance reviews on Store Associates. Create and maintain a customer-focused environment by ensuring the immediate follow-up and resolution of all customer complaints, inquiries and suggestions by store personnel.
- At the direction of the Store Manager, represent Sunrise Cellars at alcoholic beverage trade functions. Assist in arranging and coordinating all off-site events such as wine tastings, community and marketing events. Maintain compliance to Wakefern Quality Assurance Standards.
Skills
- Strong leadership abilities with previous assistant manager or supervisory experience in retail or grocery settings.
- Excellent communication skills; bilingual or multilingual capabilities are a plus for serving diverse customer bases.
- Proficiency in retail math, budgeting, purchasing, and inventory management techniques.
- Skilled in negotiation, marketing strategies, merchandising, and store presentation.
- Adept at managing time effectively while multitasking across various responsibilities such as cashiering, stock stocking, and store management.
- Knowledge of POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail sales processes.
