American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring an active IL license and 2+ years of experience in a Level 2 trauma acute care setting.

Acute care Med/Surg unit within a Level 2 trauma facility
-
37-bed unit with a combination of private and semi-private rooms
-
Patient ratios are approximately 1:4-6 on day shift and 1:5-6 on night shift
-
CNA support ratio is approximately 1:10-15
-
Common diagnoses include COPD, sepsis, CVA, COVID, pneumonia, and various surgical cases (hip, knee, cholecystectomy, hernia repair, bowel resections)
-
Unit accepts telemetry patients monitored centrally with strip visualization available on the floor

Common drips include Lasix and Heparin
-
No ventilators on the unit, though BiPAP, CPAP, and high-flow patients are managed
-
In-house hospitalist coverage during the day and APN/eHospitalist coverage at night
-
Respiratory Therapy available 24/7

EPIC EMR system used for charting
-
12-hour night shifts (7p-7:30a)
-
Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday) for both day and night shifts

Every other holiday coverage required depending on schedule
-
Floating to other units may be required based on competency, with a full patient assignment taken during float shifts
-
No call requirements

Self-scheduling available, with manager-created schedules given the short contract length

Active IL RN license required
-
Current BLS (AHA) certification required
-
Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

EPIC EMR experience preferred
-
Must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all panels as required by the Drug-Free Campus policy

Provide direct patient care on a busy Med/Surg unit treating a wide range of medical and surgical diagnoses
-
Charge nurses are typically available 24/7 and may take patient assignments as needed
-
Unit-specific orientation includes 2 days in the department plus 1 day of hospital/EMR orientation
-
No specific scrub color required; approved facility logo gear may be worn with scrub pants
-
Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are eligible for a local rate
