At OUI, our Caregivers hold the job title Direct Support Professional (DSP).
Currently hiring one weekday staff member and one weekend staff member!
The 3 Possible Roles of a Direct Support Professional1. Teach Group Classes
Classes are held at our center Monday-Friday from 9:00am-3:00pm with up to 12 adult participants per class.
Topics may include:
- Current events
- Communication
- Money management and budgeting
- Personal boundaries
- Life skills
- And more
2. Provide One-on-One Services
Work with clients in their homes or out in the community.
Help clients achieve self-directed goals such as:
- Budgeting
- Grocery shopping
- Cleaning
- Social activities
- Community involvement
Very flexible hours available.
3. Lead Community Group Classes
Community classes are approximately 1.5 hours long with a 1 staff to 3 client ratio.
DSPs take clients into the community to teach safety and life skills such as:
- Crossing the street safely
- Stranger awareness
- Volunteer activities
- Walking downtown
- Going to lunch
- Visiting parks and recreation areas
Many of our DSPs work in 2-3 of these roles, while others choose to focus only on teaching classes or only one-on-one services. We want to place you where your strengths fit best.
Qualifications
All positions require:

- Attention to detail with documentation

- Genuine interest in supporting clients
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver’s license required
- Criminal history background check required before employment
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen
OUI provides CPR/First Aid Certification.
