SHR Talent is partnering with a healthcare client in Asheville, North Carolina in its search for a Nurse Manager – Cardiovascular Services.
This Nurse Manager opportunity offers the chance to lead high-performing cardiovascular nursing teams within one of the region's premier acute care hospitals. The Nurse Manager will provide operational, clinical, and strategic leadership across specialized cardiovascular care environments, including Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CPCU) and Cardiovascular Intensive Care (CVICU) units. This leader will be responsible for driving exceptional patient outcomes, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting evidence-based nursing practices, and fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and compassionate care.
The ideal candidate will possess strong cardiovascular clinical expertise, particularly within post-cardiothoracic patient populations, along with proven leadership experience in an acute care hospital setting. This individual will partner closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient care delivery, staff engagement, quality outcomes, operational efficiency, and financial performance. The Nurse Manager will play a key role in staff development, recruitment, retention, succession planning, and advancing nursing excellence throughout the cardiovascular service line.
- Provide day-to-day operational leadership for cardiovascular nursing units, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centered care delivery.
- Lead and develop nursing staff through coaching, mentoring, performance management, recruitment, and retention initiatives.
- Collaborate with physicians, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, patient experience, and quality metrics.
- Manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, resource allocation, productivity, and financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, accreditation, organizational, and professional nursing standards while promoting evidence-based practice and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; ADN with MSN or BA with MSN considered. Master's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or eligibility through the Enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- BLS Healthcare Provider certification required.
- National Specialty Certification in nursing leadership or cardiovascular specialty area required within one year of hire.
- Minimum of five (5) years of recent acute care nursing experience required.
- Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated nursing leadership experience, including Charge Nurse, Assistant Manager, Supervisor, or Nurse Manager experience.
- Required clinical experience caring for post-cardiothoracic and cardiovascular patient populations.
- Experience leading teams in progressive care, critical care, cardiovascular intensive care, cardiac step-down, or cardiovascular service line environments strongly preferred.
- Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR), clinical documentation systems, staffing platforms, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership, communication, team-building, conflict resolution, operational management, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to analyze clinical, financial, quality, and workforce data to support strategic and operational initiatives.
- Participation in an administrative on-call rotation approximately once every six weeks.
