The Product Engineer is responsible for utilizing company ERP software to effectively set up products and their requirements including but not limited to the following activities: creating bills of material, setting up item builds into the ERP, creating routes, set up and maintenance of tables, and assigning and tracking finished good item numbers for new products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for working with management and other departments regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production. Communicate heavily with accounting, sales, and purchasing to facilitate effective business operations. Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions to figure costing for custom orders. Review and engineer approved custom orders for production. Assist management team with new product design. Engineer new product samples. Work with product development concerning product design to ensure product specifications are created and updated. Assist plant personnel to build prototypes, to create production process. Stay up to date with a variety of manufacturing processes and materials and provide general support including but not limited to troubleshooting company ERP software, and assisting with entering Furniture Market introduction orders. Provide costing and comparisons for new furniture market items & promotional items Maintain a strong understanding of MRPs, Microsoft word programs, and Microsoft Excel programs. Display strong organizational, analytical, and follow up skills and maintain a strong drive for results and self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, and meeting standards. Maintain focus on driving continued improvements towards product and process. Communicate and work effectively with all other manufacturing employees and other various company personnel and outside vendors. Display a professional attitude and represent the company with integrity and professionalism. Work independently and make decisions based on established operating procedures. Maintains and update policies and procedures for the engineering function. Coordinate necessary projects as directed by management to improve the overall efficiency of the purchasing function. Supervise and assist receiving data entry to support Accounting. Execute special projects as needed.
Skills & Experience:

Education:
- BS/BA degree in Furniture Design or related fields preferred or 5 years’ experience
