Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer belts.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare professionals.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations.
- Provide companionship and emotional support, especially for individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, autism, or developmental disabilities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces.
- Support clients with mobility challenges through proper use of assistive devices and ensure safety during transfers or movement.
- Document care activities meticulously in compliance with HIPAA standards and update care plans regularly to reflect changing needs.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in home health care, assisted living, nursing homes, or group homes is highly desirable.
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as hospice care or dementia training are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks associated with caregiving.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, developmental delays, or mental health conditions like dementia or autism.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients’ families and healthcare teams while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines.
