Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dermatology Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for patient care and an interest in dermatology, medicine, and outpatient clinical settings. Schedule
32-40 hours per week, can be 8 or 10 hour days over 4-5 days per week
Individuals with schedule flexibility is ideal
We are looking preferentially for individuals who can work later shifts Mon - Thursday, ie 10am-6am or 1030/11am - 7pm
Commitment
This position requires a minimum of 10 months given training involved
Duties
- Assist dermatologists during patient examinations and procedures, including skin assessments, biopsies, and minor treatments
- Prepare patients for appointments by collecting medical histories and performing initial assessments
- Support clinical operations by managing electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems), documenting medical notes accurately, and updating patient records
- Perform basic laboratory tasks such as phlebotomy (blood draws) and specimen handling under supervision
- Ensure smooth patient intake processes by verifying insurance information, explaining procedures, and answering patient questions with professionalism
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas while adhering to infection control protocols
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical supplies inventory, and assisting with billing or ICD coding as needed
- Qualifications
- Prior experience or training in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and ICD coding practices
- Experience working with electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems) and electronic medical records (EMR) management tools
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR required or willing to obtain upon hire
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
