Position: High School Interventionist / Tutor
Schedule: Part-Time, up to 29 hours per week
Hours: Flexible schedule between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Location: Uwharrie Charter Academy – High School
Uwharrie Charter Academy is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and student-focused High School Interventionist/Tutor to provide targeted academic support to students in grades 9–12. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in mathematics and English language arts, a passion for helping students succeed, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
This position will work closely with classroom teachers and school leadership to identify student needs, provide individualized and small-group intervention, monitor student progress, and help students develop the academic skills and confidence necessary for success.

Provide individualized and small-group tutoring and academic intervention for high school students.

Provide strong instructional support in mathematics and English/English Language Arts.

Work with students who need additional support with grade-level content, foundational skills, assignments, and test preparation.

Use student data, classroom performance, assessments, and teacher feedback to identify areas of need.

Develop and implement targeted intervention strategies based on individual student needs.e.

Monitor student progress and communicate concerns and successes with classroom teachers and appropriate school staff.

Maintain accurate documentation of student interventions, attendance, progress, and areas of continued need.

Collaborate with teachers to ensure intervention activities align with classroom instruction and North Carolina Standard Course of Study expectations.

Encourage student engagement, accountability, perseverance, and ownership of learning.

Establish positive, respectful relationships with students while maintaining high academic expectations.

Support students in preparing for classroom assessments, EOC exams, and other academic benchmarks as appropriate.

Maintain a safe, supportive, and productive learning environment.

Perform other duties as assigned by school administration.
Required:

Strong content knowledge and instructional skills in mathematics and English/English Language Arts.

Ability to work effectively with high school students.

Preferred:

Bachelor's degree or higher in education or a related field.

Previous experience tutoring, teaching, or providing academic intervention.

Experience working with students who require additional academic support.

Experience using student achievement data to identify instructional needs.

Familiarity with North Carolina academic standards and high school EOC assessments.

This is a part-time position of up to 29 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that may be arranged between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. on Friday, based on student and school needs.
