How can you grow with Nufarm?
Based in Chicago Heights, IL, Nufarm is looking for an Industrial Maintenance Technician, 1st Shift (7:30am - 4pm) who will be responsible for installing, repairing, troubleshooting, and optimizing the operation of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation equipment used in chemical manufacturing and packaging processes. This position plays a critical role in maintaining equipment reliability, supporting safe operations, and improving plant performance.
What will you be doing?
- Execute preventive maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failures and improve reliability.
- Troubleshoot and make corrections to instruments and automation systems.
- Observe and diagnose mechanical defects in pumps, pipelines, compressors, generators, reactors, heat exchangers, filters, and agitators.
- Install, repair, and optimize packaging equipment including fillers, cappers, coders, palletizers, case erectors, and conveyors.
- Bench test instruments for accuracy and operational effectiveness.
- Conduct PLC-controlled safety interlock testing.
- Maintain accurate equipment data, manuals, and repair records.
- Use CMMS systems for work order management and maintenance planning.
- Install and troubleshoot PLC systems, electrical equipment, instrumentation, and new equipment installations.
- Perform pipefitting, pump seal replacement, air pump repairs, building maintenance, housekeeping, and related maintenance tasks.
What do you bring?
Associate degree or technical certification, or equivalent maintenance experience in a chemical manufacturing environment. Strong troubleshooting, communication, organizational, and CMMS skills are preferred along with knowledge of ladder logic, milliamp signals, data logging systems, and industrial equipment.
Working Conditions
Regular exposure to process chemicals and industrial manufacturing environments, including moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, fumes, airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions. Physical Requirements
Requires prolonged walking and standing and frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling of materials weighing up to 60 pounds.
