Shop Technician Full Time

This is a full time position, work hours will vary between 4am-11pm.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Shop Technicians are responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment in a shop environment. The ideal candidate is dependable, has strong mechanical aptitude, hands-on experience with engines, other mechanical systems, and a commitment to safety and quality of work
- Diagnose and repair engines, hydraulics, brakes, transmissions, and electrical systems
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, oil changes, and part replacements
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and repair manuals, including Cummins Insite, SnapOn Pro-Link, and similar.
- Complete work orders and maintenance logs accurately and on time (experience with Maintenance Pro or other MTC Software preferred)
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
- Follow all safety policies & standards as defined by OSHA and Southland Pavement Cleaning
- Communicate with supervisors and other team members about repair status and parts needed

Maintain proper records in an organized manner.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of office systems, including Samsara and Microsoft Office Suite.
Understand and perform back-up and/or off-line procedures as required.
Assist with training, development, and orientation of new maintenance staff.
Balance taking direction with taking initiative and demonstrate the flexibility required to accomplish the duties of the entire shift.
Maintain professional behavior per Company policy.

QUALIFICATIONS. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. WORK HISTORY. 2+ years of experience working as a technician or equipment mechanic, incluidng experiance and knowledge of diesel engines, diagnostics, and repair procedures. Experience with hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, software, and technical manuals is required.
EDUCATION. High school diploma or equivalent is required (technical certification or trade school preferred).
PERSONAL SKILLS. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training and to work with the team to increase customer service and sales.
LANGUAGE SKILLS. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos [in English]. Ability to write simple correspondence [in English]. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and other associates of the organization who only speak English.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS. Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to calculate a discount % amount. Ability to perform these operations using units of American currency.
REASONING ABILITY. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, TRAINING. Complete Company’s training including but not limited to: new hire orientation, customer service training, and safety. Valid driver's license is required, CDL is preferred. ASE Diesel certification is preferred.

Requires work performed in outdoor environments/ Exposure to variable and adverse weather conditions.
Exposure to noise, vibrations, jarring, fumes grease oil & chemicals.
Active, physical work involving occasionally; carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, reaching; walking, standing, and driving and operating equipment for extended periods of time. Requires focus adjustment, depth perception, clear close & distant vision. Use of ear, eye and other safety equipment.
