Registered Nurse – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) | Travel Contract

Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM | 3x12-Hour Shifts
Weekly Pay Range: $2400 - $3000 (DOE)

Job Duties:
- Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill neonates, infants, children, and adolescents in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and continuously monitor changes in patient condition.
- Manage mechanically ventilated patients, including ventilator support, airway management, and respiratory monitoring.
- Administer IV medications, blood products, continuous sedation, vasopressors, TPN, and other critical care therapies.
- Monitor and manage central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, and other invasive devices.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams during emergencies, procedures, and critical interventions.
- Care for patients with complex neurological, cardiac, trauma, and respiratory conditions.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic while following hospital policies and critical care protocols.
- Educate and support patients' families throughout the course of treatment.
- Float to other UCSF facilities as needed based on staffing and patient care requirements.
Requirements:
- Active California RN License required.
- BSN required.
- Current AHA BLS certification required.
- Current PALS certification required.
- Minimum 5 years of recent PICU nursing experience required.
- Teaching hospital experience required.
- Epic experience required.
- Pediatric CVICU experience preferred.
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
- Strong experience with ventilators, airway management, hemodynamic monitoring, and pediatric critical care.
- Ability to maintain a 1:2 patient ratio in a high-acuity PICU environment.
