Responsibilities
- Monitor the health and behavior of exotic birds daily, recognizing signs of illness or distress promptly
- Administer medications and supplements as prescribed by veterinarians, ensuring proper dosage and timing
- Maintain clean and safe enclosures by performing regular cleaning, disinfecting, and habitat enrichment activities
- Assist with feeding routines, including preparing nutritious meals tailored to each bird’s dietary needs
- Observe and document behavioral patterns, noting any changes that may indicate health issues or stress
- Support the overall well-being of the birds through environmental enrichment and social interaction
- Follow all safety protocols related to handling exotic birds and managing their habitats effectively
Requirements
- Prior experience working with exotic or avian species is highly preferred
- Knowledge of bird care practices, including nutrition, habitat maintenance, and health monitoring
- Ability to perform light to moderate physical tasks such as cleaning enclosures and assisting with habitat setup
- Strong observational skills to monitor bird health and behavior accurately
- Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for caring for animals in a specialized environment
- Familiarity with safety procedures related to handling exotic birds and using protective equipment
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and report observations clearly
