About Northbound Contracting
We build high-end kitchens and bathrooms for homeowners across Oakland County. Every project gets an in-house designer, a fixed price after selections, and weekly client walkthroughs. Respectful crews, clean jobsites, and honest communication aren't extras here. They're the standard, and that only works if the person running the job believes in it too.
That's the person we're looking for.
What you'll do
You'll run the jobsite. That means leading the crew and doing the high-level carpentry yourself. Our project manager handles client walkthroughs and progress updates, so your focus stays on the work and the crew.
● Run daily site operations: morning huddles, task assignments, opening and closing the site
● Perform advanced rough and finish carpentry, including cabinets, doors, flooring, trim, and framing
● Read and work from plans, schematics, and shop drawings, and handle layout, leveling, shimming, and alignment on work that has to be right the first time
● Inspect quality daily and correct deficiencies before the next phase starts
● Be courteous and professional with the homeowner while you're in their home, and route their questions to the project manager
● Coordinate with the project manager on work phases, resource needs, and schedule
● Verify deliveries, stage materials, track what's on site, and flag upcoming material needs early
● Enforce PPE and safety protocols, and correct hazards on the spot
● Solve field problems as they come up, and escalate anything involving cost, scope, or structure to the PM
● Submit a daily progress report with photos
● Train and mentor apprentices
You'll have authority to approve field change orders up to $750 on non-structural work, with client sign-off and documentation.
What we're looking for
● 5+ years of carpentry experience, with at least 2 running jobs or leading a crew
● Strong finish carpentry skills. You can hang a door, run trim, and set cabinets without a callback
● Respectful and professional around homeowners. You're working in their house, not a job trailer
● Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and your own hand and power tools
● Able to read plans and lay out from them
● Someone who leaves a jobsite cleaner than they found it
Nice to have: experience with kitchen and bath remodels, lead-safe (RRP) certification, OSHA 10, familiarity with project management software.
