Equipment Operator
Position Summary
The Construction Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating heavy equipment and machinery used in construction, site preparation, excavation, grading, material handling, and related projects. This position performs daily equipment inspections, follows safety regulations, and works closely with supervisors and crew members to complete projects efficiently and according to specifications. Operators are expected to maintain equipment, report mechanical issues, and ensure work is performed in compliance with company policies, OSHA standards, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate construction equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, skid steers, loaders, backhoes, rollers, and other heavy machinery.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip equipment inspections and complete required documentation.
- Follow all safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and contractors.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area.
- Assist with manual labor and other construction-related tasks when equipment operation is not required.
Qualifications/ Skills
- Previous experience operating construction equipment preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, and travel as required by project needs.
