POSITION SUMMARY:
The Middle School Assistant Principal supports the Principal in carrying out duties and responsibilities related to day-to-day supervision, management, educational leadership, state and federal requirements, and the coordination of co- curricular and sporting events at HFAA. The Assistant Principal must be ready to assume responsibilities delegated by the Principal for a number of important tasks related to the effective and efficient operation of the school.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master of Secondary School Administration or comparable degree
- Certified in Secondary Administration by the Oklahoma State Dept. of Education
- Demonstrated capacity for leadership
- Three (3) successful years of teaching experience (secondary preferred)
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Internet, and e-mail
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
STUDENT OUTCOMES
o Work with the Principal to monitor and support the academic progress of students.
o Promote high attendance rates by monitoring student attendance and addressing issues early to ensure schoolwide Average Daily Attendance (ADA) remains high.
o Assist the Principal with classroom management programs, identifying student disciplinary problems, and addressing those issues with parents to create a positive outcome.
o Coordinate Academic Intervention and track at-risk students.
o Run weekly eligibility reports and disseminate information to faculty.
SCHOOL CULTURE & DISCIPLINE
o Work with staff to develop and communicate defined standards of conduct that encourage positive and productive behavior.
o Supervise student discipline procedures, student attendance, and academic eligibility.
o Work with the Principal to ensure adequate supervision of students and school activities.
o Utilizes a variety of discipline alternatives aligned with the Student Code of Conduct and the Student/Parent Handbook in solving student-related problems.
o Oversees In-School Suspension and supervises In-School Suspension teacher (if applicable).
FACULTY & STAFF EFFECTIVENESS
o Assist the Principal with the supervision and performance evaluation of building personnel and teacher effectiveness aligned with the school mission, vision, and established policy.
FINANCIAL
o Oversee the management of funds, requisitions, and deposits for assigned School Activity Fund (SAF) accounts that may be assigned by the Principal.
TECHNOLOGY MANAGEMENT
o Coordinate training and assisting teachers, counselors, and administrative team in the use of technology resources, including, but not limited to PowerSchool (the student information system) and other student learning platforms.
o Assists with organizing and conducting the pre-enrollment and re-enrollment of students.
o Works with the Principal to determine the master schedule for the upcoming year.
TEST COORDINATION
o Work with the Principal to develop testing schedules for all assessments throughout the year.
o Work with Principal and counselor to determine students who must test or re-test to meet state and school graduation requirements.
o Work with Principal and registrar to upload all standardized testing data to PowerSchool for inclusion on transcripts.
MISCELLANEOUS
o May be assigned to represent the Principal in their absence.
o Performs other tasks or services consistent with the duties defined in the position summary or as may be assigned.
