General Description
The Tutor’s objective is to assist TRIO SSS participants with successfully completing their course work and to improve as learners, helping them to move closer to their goal of graduating from the University of Montevallo. The Tutor will provide individual tutoring and study skills assistance to students in both face-to-face and online settings.
Essential Job Duties
Provide individual tutoring and study skills assistance to students in both face-to-face and online settings.
Assist with the development of positive study habits and study skills of tutored students.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of the tutoring process.
Help students/clients become independent learners.
Will participate in monthly tutor professional development and staff meetings.
Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
Must have a 3.0 overall GPA with an “A” in the subject(s) tutored. Exceptions may apply.
Dependability with good time management; managing and keeping scheduled tutoring sessions.
Sincere interest in wanting to help students succeed.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary.
