#1 aluminum knuckle manufacturer in the world to hire an experienced
Furnace Operator for a growing team in
Auburn, Indiana.
Pay: $21.00/hour
Shift: 2nd Shift | Monday–Friday | 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Furnace Operator Responsibilities
- Transport molten aluminum to die cast machines using a forklift.
- Maintain proper metal levels and properties in melt and holding furnaces.
- Charge furnaces with ingot, molten metal, and scrap.
- Perform and record metal temperature checks.
- Produce aluminum test pucks for laboratory quality analysis.
- Make furnace chemistry adjustments as directed by the lab.
- Clean melt and holding furnaces using flux and remove dross.
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on furnace equipment.
Qualifications
- Previous furnace or foundry experience required.
- Forklift experience required.
- Experience with molten metal handling preferred, including:
- Monitoring metal temperatures and metal mixtures.
- Pouring molten metal from a forklift using a bull ladle.
- Cleaning reverb furnaces.
- Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs regularly.
- Basic reading, writing, math, and inspection skills.
