Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough examinations and diagnose health issues in a variety of animals using veterinary terminology and clinical ethical guidelines.
- Perform general surgeries, including soft tissue procedures and dental treatments, ensuring aseptic techniques are maintained throughout.
- Administer anesthesia, monitor vital signs during procedures, and manage critical & intensive care cases with expertise in anesthesiology and veterinary critical care experience.
- Handle animal restraint and animal handling techniques safely and effectively to ensure the well-being of patients during examinations and treatments.
- Provide internal medicine services such as cardiology assessments, oncology treatments, and veterinary internal medicine consultations.
- Communicate clearly with pet owners regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and pet care instructions while demonstrating excellent client communication skills.
- Maintain detailed medical records, laboratory results, and treatment plans in accordance with veterinary practice standards.
- Assist with emergency medicine cases promptly and competently to stabilize animals in critical condition.
- Support animal husbandry duties including pet grooming, feeding, and ensuring proper animal physiology understanding for optimal health management.
- Collaborate with team members on complex cases involving exotic animal medicine or equine experience to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Qualifications
- Veterinary degree from an accredited institution with valid licensure or certification to practice veterinary medicine.
- Proven veterinary experience with proficiency in animal restraint, anesthesia administration, surgery, and emergency medicine.
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, physiology, dentistry, internal medicine, oncology, cardiology, and critical care practices.
- Experience handling companion animals such as dogs and cats; additional large animal experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated commitment to professional ethics and adherence to clinical ethical guidelines at all times.
- Excellent animal handling skills including dog handling and animal catheterization techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients about pet care needs while demonstrating empathy and professionalism.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures relevant to veterinary diagnostics and treatment planning.
