POSITION TITLE: Peer Support Specialist
REPORTS TO: Program Director
JOB TYPE: Full-Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Offers recovery support in the community and on-site, provides mentorship, guidance, and emotional support to participants, drawing on lived experience to foster trust, and engagement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Offer one-on-one mentoring and facilitate support groups.
- Share lived experience to normalize challenges and encourage engagement.
- Assist participants in navigating services and building coping skills.
- Participate in program planning and outreach efforts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Lived experience as a mother with challenges similar to program participants (preferred).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Training in trauma-informed care and peer support (can be provided on the job).
