Quality Control Supervisor
Position Summary
The Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the facility's Quality Management System while ensuring compliance with ISO, API, customer, and internal quality standards. This position provides leadership for quality inspectors and auditors, supports manufacturing operations, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and maintains compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, train, and schedule quality auditors and inspectors to support production requirements.
- Coordinate incoming material inspections and ensure supplier quality standards are met.
- Issue, track, and resolve Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) for nonconforming materials.
- Develop and deliver quality and process training for production and quality personnel while maintaining employee training records and department training matrices.
- Support manufacturing operations through production reporting, scrap analysis, quality investigations, and inspector staffing.
- Schedule, conduct, and administer internal Quality Management System audits to ensure compliance with ISO and API requirements.
- Perform document reviews, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Coordinate external quality system audits and ensure timely closure of findings and nonconformance reports (NCRs).
- Review scrap reports and quality checkpoint data to identify trends and establish priorities for process improvements that reduce waste and improve product quality.
- Maintain and coordinate monthly Quality Management System document reviews.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and company safety regulations and quality standards.
- Review and approve the safety aspects of new chemicals, materials, and manufacturing processes before implementation.
- Prepare quality and safety reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing operational data and trends.
- Recommend process improvements, corrective actions, and alternative products or methods to improve quality and operational efficiency.
Qualifications
- Certified ISO 9001 Lead Auditor preferred.
- Strong understanding of quality control procedures, inspection techniques, and manufacturing quality systems.
- Working knowledge of API and ISO quality standards and internal auditing processes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe applications.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with production personnel and management.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with corrective actions, supplier quality management, scrap reduction initiatives, and continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
