Job Title: Accounting Manager
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Accounting Manager to lead our accounting department and oversee the preparation of financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance. In this role, you will manage a team of accounting professionals, allocating tasks and driving performance to meet key financial objectives. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, implementing best practices, and improving processes, all while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Responsibilities:
As the Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for the following key duties:
- Oversee Daily Accounting Operations: Manage and direct all aspects of the accounting department, including month-end and year-end close processes, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger, cash receipts, and treasury functions.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Produce accurate and timely financial reports and statements. Ensure monthly close is completed within 3-5 days after month-end. Analyze variances between budget and actual results, providing actionable insights into cost control and profitability. Perform job costing analysis and provide company-wide productivity measurements to senior leadership.
- Use of ERP Systems: Manage financial data within ECI Job Boss2, Sage 50 Quantum, and Microsoft Excel/Access, leveraging advanced features to streamline reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasting, and cash flow projections. Use financial data to support business strategies and make recommendations for adjustments as needed.
- Internal Controls & Compliance: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Stay up to date on relevant legislation and ensure proper accounting policies and procedures are followed.
- 401(k) & Benefits Administration: Oversee the company's 401(k) plan and insurance packages, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Team Leadership: Ensure that tasks are allocated effectively across the team and provide coaching to improve performance. Foster a high-performing, collaborative environment.
- Process Improvement: Continuously identify areas for process improvements and implement solutions that increase efficiency, reduce errors, and enhance reporting accuracy.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Operations, HR, and Sales, to ensure alignment between financial goals and overall company objectives.
- Annual Audits & Tax Compliance: Coordinate and complete annual audits and ensure timely tax filings, working with external auditors and tax professionals.
- Confidentiality & Discretion: Handle sensitive financial and personal information with the utmost discretion and confidentiality. Ensure compliance with all privacy regulations and safeguard company and employee data.
Qualification Requirements & Skills:
- Required:
- Minimum 5 years experience in accounting/finance
- Minimum 2 years of experience in accounting management or a related field.
- In-depth understanding of accounting principles, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and improve team performance.
- Proficiency in variance analysis, job costing analysis, and company-wide productivity measurements.
- Strong Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and attention to detail when preparing financial reports and statements.
- Excellent Communication: Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly to senior management and non-financial teams.
- KPI Tracking & Reporting: Ability to track and report on KPIs, including month-end close timelines, budgeting accuracy, and overall team performance metrics.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Proficiency with ECI Job Boss2, Sage 50 Quantum, and Microsoft Excel/Access.
- Familiarity with managing and administering 401(k) plans, as well as company-wide insurance packages.
Pay TBD based on skill level and experience.
