Seasonal position for a Data communications, Telecommunications and cabling field service technician with 2 to 5 years experience working in the retail and construction industry. This is a 40hr/week. graveyard position with work starting at 9pm and a 1 hour lunch. Must be able to work and communicate with project managers, superintendents, and leads from other trades to coordinate and execute daily job responsibilities. The technician must work independently after receiving daily job assignments from the remodel project manager, or superintendent on site. The technician must be flexible on the job, as job assignments will change on the fly without notice, due to availability of product and material on site. Technicians must always be polite, accommodating, patient and professional. The technician must have tools, testers, PPE, and transportation, cable scanner a plus. Fiber optic knowledge also a plus. Duties will include moving, replacing and relocating the departments of a major retail chain stores voice and data cabling for the different departments within the store. Our job is to install new voice and data cabling, and to disconnect, relocate and reconnect each active data and phone cable for the department being worked on. Each cable must be terminated onto a data or phone insert that will be tested, scanned, labeled, logged and picture taken for the proper device assignment and proof of completion, any cabling not functioning must be troubleshot and made active by working with tech support. All departments disconnected must be made active by opening time each day. Working on a lift at about 28ft and higher is a must and having lift certification is a plus. Must have a working knowledge of switch moves, assignments and how to disconnect and relocate the ports assigned on the switch, work with tech support to configure and assign switch ports, must be able to install racks and cabinets.
