We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced host for an elevated yet cozy and comfortable neighborhood restaurant in the Upper East Side. We are looking for a host who is confident and capable of managing a busy door and floor, all while maintaining a cool, calm and inviting demeanor. Our restaurant has a healthy amount of devoted neighborhood regulars, as well as the reputation of being a destination restaurant for brunch, date nights, and private events. Our host should be eager to meet and get to know our regulars, and build a roster of clientele all their own.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests upon arrival, check in reservations and account for walk-in business.
- Learn and operate our OpenTable Reservation Book.
- Assess and share reservation notes with management and service team.
- Answer phones and take reservations, properly accounting for guests already in our reservation book and accurately adding new guests to our guest book.
- Update guest notes in our reservation book as needed after each visit to account for guest experiences/preferences that could be valuable on return visits.
- Check Voicemails and respond in a timely and professional manner.
- Manage seating for our main dining floor, main bar and side bar, as well as our outdoor dining area through the warmer season.
- Recognize and welcome regulars and VIP guests.
- Maintain organization, stock and cleanliness of host stand, coat check & menus.
- Have an understanding of food and beverage menu.
- Build and grow relationships with regular guests and event clients.
Skills
- At least 2 years NYC hosting experience
- Food & beverage knowledge and familiarity
- OpenTable or other FOH operating system experience a plus
- Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
- Outgoing personality
- Experience working in high volume, high traffic professional situations
- Relevant training
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
