Duties
- Assist the dentist during various procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain aseptic technique to uphold infection control standards
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols are followed
- Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Epic for accurate medical documentation and coding
- Collect vital signs and medical history information to support comprehensive patient assessments in general dentistry and pediatrics
- Operate dental imaging equipment including 3D scanners for advanced diagnostics in complex cases like prosthodontics or endodontics
- Serve as a dental receptionist by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient flow efficiently
- Maintain knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology to communicate effectively with patients and team members
Qualifications
- Valid registration as a Dental Assistant with current licensure or certification in accordance with state regulations
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in dental assisting procedures and infection control practices
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic; experience with medical coding and records management is highly desirable
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety standards
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry and pediatrics
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients of all ages, including children in pediatric dentistry settings
