Our busy, progressive small animal veterinary hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our compassionate and supportive team. We are looking for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, provides exceptional patient care, and thrives working alongside a collaborative veterinary team.
This is a part-time position requiring availability five days per week for 4-6 hour shifts. Applicants must be available to work both opening and closing shifts as needed.
What You'll Do
As an Experienced Veterinary Assistant, you will play an essential role in providing outstanding patient care by:
- Running appointments alongside our veterinarians
- Safely restraining small animal patients for examinations and procedures
- Monitoring anesthesia during surgical and dental procedures
- Preparing patients for surgery and assisting with recovery
- Drawing up and administering vaccines as directed
- Filling prescriptions accurately and efficiently
- Collecting and processing laboratory samples (blood, urine, fecal)
- Assisting with treatments, diagnostics, and nursing care
- Maintaining accurate medical records using veterinary software
- Educating clients on medications, home care, and follow-up instructions
- Keeping exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical spaces clean, organized, and stocked
- Working as part of a collaborative veterinary team to provide exceptional patient care
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 1 year of hands-on Veterinary Assistant experience in a small animal practice
- Experience monitoring anesthesia
- Strong small animal restraint skills
- Comfortable running appointments with veterinarians
- Experience drawing up vaccines and filling prescriptions
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced hospital
- Positive attitude, dependable work ethic, and excellent communication skills
Schedule Requirements
This is a part-time position.
Applicants must:
- Be available Monday through Friday
- Work 4-6 hour shifts
- Be able to work both opening (7:15 AM start) and closing shifts (ending approximately 6:30 PM) as scheduled
- No weekends, holidays, or overnight shifts
- No on call
