Recipients of this Maintenance Representative position will be responsible for working within our hotel property, which contains 70 guestrooms, 3 restaurant locations. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for the overall building maintenance through routine and preventative schedules. The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the overseeing all of the buildings mechanics and is responsible for leading and overseeing a maintenance team of 2-3 motivated maintenance individuals.
Individuals will have hospitality in mind while working within the hotel with a willingness to be friendly, and hospitable as they will be interacting with hotel guests as the Maintenance Engineer. Recipients of this position must be energetic, efficient and detail oriented.
- Ideal applicants will have at least 5 years experience as a Maintenance Engineer, technician or similar trade role in a hotel, large building or related repair / service business environment.
- Recipients of this position must have an established work record, with the demonstrated ability to have held a position with a previous employer for at least 2 full years. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a large facility or hotel is a plus.
- Must have solid experience with all ranges of building maintenance to include: light-medium electrical skills, PVC and Copper pipe plumbing repair and pipe joining / sweating.
- Must have experience and understanding of natural gas systems and fire system safety. Must ensure periodic tests are performed on Fire Alarm/Life Safety System
- HVAC and refrigeration and troubleshooting experience. HVAC refrigerant license or certification a big plus (not required). Knowledge of proactive preventative maintenance procedures for HVAC and filtration systems.
- Experience working with a wide range of power tools and saws for conducting interior and exterior building maintenance. Must be able to proficiently use a measuring tape for repair and renovation projects.
- Must be detailed and efficient when conducting repairs to ensure that items are repaired well while using the correct materials and fasteners to ensure a lasting quality job.
- Carpentry, interior renovation, drywall repair, and painting experience. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for conducting and overseeing painting and touch up work in hotel common areas and guestrooms. The candidate must know how to properly prepare and paint surfaces using professional painting techniques and tools such as brushes, rollers, paint sprayers, tapes and drop cloths.
- Knowledge of small engine preventative routine oil maintenance and filtration systems for small gas powered equipment.
- The Maintenance Engineer will be expected to take a proactive approach to inspecting and maintaining the building exteriors, common areas and guestroom areas within the hotel.
- The Maintenance Engineer inspects and monitors the building, equipment and grounds to determine maintenance and preventative maintenance and cleaning requirements.
- Ensure the preventative maintenance is ongoing to protect assets and addressed maintenance problems immediately.
- The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for directing maintenance personnel to conduct Preventative Maintenance for each arriving guest room on a daily basis.
- The Maintenance Engineer will communicate closely with the Executive Housekeeper, and Hotel Front Desk staff to ensure that maintenance needs are being met both proactively and reactively for arriving guests and upon request.
- The Maintenance Engineer will work with and communicate closely with hotel and restaurant management on a daily basis regarding maintenance issues.
- The Maintenance Engineer will respond to guest requests and reports guest issues and resolve engineering service requests in a courteous, efficient manner and must be willing to accept assignments on as need basis.
- The Maintenance engineer will oversee and dispatch 2-3 maintenance individuals under their supervision to conduct proactive, preventative and reactive maintenance issues.
- The Maintenance engineer will work with vendors to collect competing quotes when repairs cannot be achieved in-house and will work with senior management to determine what the best course of action will be and to shop for the best price for the repair.
- The Maintenance Engineer will oversee inventory, ordering of supplies and equipment and will work closely with senior management to ensure that supplies are being shopped at the best price on an as needed basis and purchased within the property’s financial budget.
- Candidate must comply with all departmental rules, regulations, standards, daily uniform dress code and appearance regulations and must demonstrate a professional, friendly attitude toward team members.
- The candidate will be responsible for wearing the required PPE (personal protection equipment) and facial mask while on property.
- Candidate must have a valid Driver's license and a driving record in good standing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. following appropriate safety procedures.
- Climb ladders and work heights above the ground level.
- Must have the physical ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, and kneel frequently.
- Must have the physical ability to frequently crouch, push, pull, squat and work above the shoulders during the performance of the daily job routine.
- Must have the physical ability to use both hands for continuous firm grasping with both hands
- Must have the physical ability to continuously carry up to 40-50 pounds of weight both on flat surfaces as well as up and down stairs for distances of up to 100 feet.
- Must have the physical ability to occasionally lift up to 40-50 pounds of weight between the floor and waist, occasionally from the waist to above the shoulder.
- Must have the physical ability to occasionally push and pull various items, weighing up to 75 pounds distances up to 150 feet.
- Must have the physical ability to work at heights and on uneven surfaces frequently.
- Must have the physical ability to tolerate any required protective equipment such as gloves, safety glasses and other protective equipment deemed appropriate on a continuous basis.
- Must be able to work in different environmental conditions (e.g. heat, cold, wind, rain, humidity).
Good knowledge of computer software is required with ability navigate the internet, email and type on a keyboard. Microsoft Excel and Word experience is a plus. The Maintenance Engineer will be required to work within our web based software to provide real-time status update responses with online in-house work orders tickets throughout the work day as those tasks are completed.
The Maintenance Engineer schedule is primarily Monday-Friday from 7am - 4pm. The ideal candidate will have good schedule flexibility with the willingness to work as needed and based on demand depending on the work load within the property. The ideal candidate must be willing to work, weekends and occasional holidays if needed based on demand and on maintenance emergencies. The Maintenance Engineer must be willing to work on an Emergency On-Call basis in the event of a maintenance issues on evenings and weekends.
Pre-employment drug testing is a requirement for all employees. Eligible employees must successfully pass the pre-employment drug screening test in order to be hired for this position.
