Job Title: Substitute Bus Driver
Reports to: Transportation Supervisor/ Principal
Contract: Temporary
Job Goal: Ensure a secure, orderly, and positive environment for student riders while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and district transportation policies.
Qualifications:
- Copy of high school diploma, official high school transcript, or GED
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Cleared ALSDE Fieldprint background check
- Must have valid driver's license with CDL/ "P" and "S" endorsements
- State Department of Education Bus Driver Certificate
- DOT Physical
Classified Substitute Positions/Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Operates school buses safely by following all traffic laws and district policies.
- Transport students on assigned or substitute routes; maintain schedule.
- Complete pre-trip/post-trip inspections; report issues
- Manage behavior, ensure safe loading/unloading; assist special-need students.
- Report delays/changes; communicate with transportation supervisor and principals.
- Complete logs, reports, and required forms.
- Maintain confidentiality, reliability, and flexibility; attend required training.
Salary: As established by the Marengo County Board of Education's salary schedule.
