Pay $65-75K plus bonus potential
JOB SUMMARY:
The primary responsibilities of this role are assisting the senior controller in the preparation of monthly financial statements including maintenance of supporting reconciliations, reviewing and posting to subsidiary ledgers, creating and posting general journal entries, invoice coding and assisting in the daily activities of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions. The candidate must be a self-starter, be analytical and be skilled in their knowledge of all aspects of financial statement accounting. The candidate must be experienced in the use Microsoft Office products.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interacts and communicates with fellow team members and customers in a cooperative, clear and professional manner in person, by email, and by telephone.
- Enters, maintains, and retrieves information from digital and written Accounting Department records.
- Maintains accurate and organized records to ensure that subsidiary and general ledger activity is properly maintained and posted in the accounting system.
- Prepares all balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
- Assists the senior controller in overseeing the duties performed by the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams including supplementing their work when the event absences occur.
- Serves as auditor correspondent for external audits including preparing and providing requested supporting documents for testing.
- Participates with all team members in month-end close procedures.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- College degree with a concentration in accounting or business
- Prior experience as an Accountant
- Month end journal entry and balance sheet reconciliation experience
- A clear understanding of the concepts of financial statement accounting and the interconnectivity of the accounts contained therein
- Significant experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- The ability to multitask and work in a past paced environment
- Familiarity with the Great Plains and McLeod accounting systems along with the management of vendor and customer invoices within those systems is a plus, but not required.
