Job Purpose:
The Process Technician’s primary duties will be to provide material for the press, reconfigure molds, complete mold changeovers, and startup and troubleshoot problems with molding machines. This person’s job is to make sure the molding machines are running efficiently, meeting the expectations and needs of fulfillment and customers. This job is classified as a safety sensitive position. Attendance is an essential function of this job.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Responsible for process technology equipment operation and safety using Milacron Roboshot and Nissei injection molding machines.
- Setting up and starting secondary equipment in a safe and timely manner.
- Make mold setups on molding machines with assistance from machine operators and/or setup personnel.
- Help develop methods to minimize changeover times.
- Perform material and/or color changes on molding machines.
- Inspect first shots and perform quality inspections throughout the process.
- Perform programming, troubleshooting and maintenance of injection molding machines and other equipment including robotics and conveyor equipment.
- Analyze equipment and processing problems and make recommendations for potential solutions, always striving to improve the quality and stability of the manufacturing process.
- Provide support and training to team members on proper operation and safety requirements on all equipment and molding machines.
- Operate industrial equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, overhead cranes and hand tools requiring advanced mechanical skills.
- Must be able to work both independently and with a high degree of detail and accuracy.
- Must be able to work in a team environment to produce high quality parts in a timely manner.
- Achieve a clear understanding of the customers (internal and external) technical requirements for each order.
- Responsible for not allowing non-conforming product or information to be processed without prior notification.
- Monitor, clean and inspect equipment to prevent problems before they occur.
- Relieve operators for breaks when necessary.
- Maintain records and documentation.
- Routine involvement with a variety of teams focused on continuous improvement.
- Understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Adhere to AS9100 Quality Management System.
Education and Experience:
- Education equivalent to a high school diploma and one year of manufacturing experience.
- Advanced Scientific molding training recommended.
- Minimum 6 months molding experience.
- Strong attention to detail is imperative.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide with accuracy.
- Must have knowledge of how to operate a computer.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Ability to read, write and understand the English language.
- Crane operation certification required.
Physical Requirements:
To successfully perform the essential functions of this job, this employee is regularly required to stand and walk, have manual dexterity and be able to reach with hands and arms. They must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
This employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more weight with assistance of the overhead crane. Employees are often required to lift large, awkward tools. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, distance vision and ability to focus. Must have the ability to operate power tools and machines with moving parts.

Work Environment:
The work environment is generally noisy and dirty, and the employee regularly works around dust, oil, electrical devices and mechanically moving parts. Conditions in the warehouse may include humidity, cold or heat. Safety glasses and closed toe shoes are required while on the plant floor.

Supervision:
The Process Technician will be under the direct supervision of the Process Molding Engineer. Requests for time off, calling in sick and any other concerns will be directed to the Process Molding Engineer.
Hours:
This position is full-time, non-exempt. Forty (40) hours of work are required per week. Applicants must be able to work either 2nd shift hours (3pm-11:30pm Mon-Fri) or 3rd shift hours (10:45pm-7:15am Sun-Thurs), or a hybrid schedule including hours from both shifts. Must be available to work holidays and weekends when requested from Supervisor. May involve 8 or 12-hour shifts.
