Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optical Medical Technician to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by assisting with ophthalmic examinations, operating specialized diagnostic equipment, and supporting clinical procedures. Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive ophthalmic patient examinations, including eye refraction, tonometry, B-scan, visual field, and other diagnostic tests to assess visual acuity and eye health.
- Operate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography), and other medical devices with precision and care.
- Assist ophthalmologists during clinical procedures by preparing patients, maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques, and ensuring proper use of medical equipment.
- Collect and document patient intake information accurately within electronic health records including vital signs, medical history, and current symptoms.
- Support patient service activities by explaining procedures, answering questions professionally, and ensuring a positive patient experience throughout their visit.
- Maintain strict adherence to clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy at all times.
- Ensure all medical records are complete, accurate, and securely stored in compliance with healthcare standards.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred.
- Proficiency in operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry devices, tonometers for intraocular pressure measurement, and other medical instruments.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and compassionately.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and general healthcare practices.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Demonstrated competence in aseptic technique and maintaining a sterile environment during clinical procedures.
- Basic understanding of retail math is advantageous for inventory management of supplies.
- Excellent Computer Knowledge a must.
