Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable, customer-focused Counter Parts Sales and Parts Manager to lead daily parts operations while serving retail, wholesale, and internal service customers. This role is responsible for parts sales, inventory control, vendor coordination, pricing, team leadership, and ensuring the right parts are available when needed. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possesses strong automotive parts knowledge with excellent customer service, organization, and leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist walk-in, phone, and internal service customers in identifying and purchasing the correct parts and accessories.
· Manage daily parts counter operations, including order entry, invoicing, payment collection, and follow-up on special orders.
· Maintain accurate inventory levels by forecasting demand, submitting stock orders, marking non-selling items for clearance
· Monitor fast-moving, seasonal, and critical parts to minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
· Work closely with other sales departments and marketing to promote seasonal items and reset show room according to seasonal demand
· Set and maintain competitive pricing while supporting department profitability goals.
· Coordinate closely with the service department to ensure technicians have the necessary parts for scheduled and emergency repairs.
· Check in with sales departments for parts orders or fulfillment needed
· Coordinate with purchasing department to verify timely arrival of stock orders and customer special orders
· Track backorders, returns, warranties, core charges, and lost sales to improve fill rates and customer satisfaction.
· Maintain organized records of inventory, purchase orders, sales transactions, credits, and vendor communications.
· Resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly.
· Ensure the parts department remains clean, organized, compliant with company procedures, and focused on safety.
Qualifications
· High school diploma or equivalent required; additional automotive, business, or inventory management training is a plus.
· Valid PA driver’s license
· Prior experience in automotive parts sales, parts counter service, inventory control, or parts department management required.
· Strong knowledge of automotive systems, replacement parts, accessories, and supplier catalogs.
· Experience using parts lookup, inventory, and point-of-sale systems.
· Ability to read parts diagrams, interpret customer needs, and match parts accurately.
· Strong communication, customer service, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
· Demonstrated ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
· Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer systems.
Preferred Skills
· Strong upselling and cross-selling ability to increase parts and accessory sales.
· Working knowledge of warranty processing, returns, and vendor claim procedures.
· Experience supporting retail, wholesale, and technician parts requests.
· Ability to analyze sales trends and adjust stocking decisions accordingly.
· Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in ordering, receiving, and billing.
Physical and Work Requirements
· Ability to stand for extended periods and work at a parts counter or warehouse area.
· Ability to lift and move parts and boxes within normal workplace safety limits.
· Ability to lift and move up to 80lb
· Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or peak seasonal periods, as needed.
· Comfort working in both customer-facing and stockroom environments
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
