About the Role
A top-tier equipment manufacturer is seeking an experienced Heavy Commercial HVAC & Combustion Service Technician to handle startup, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of large-scale commercial and industrial heating and cooling systems across the U.S.
This is not a residential or light-commercial role. You will work on heavy industrial equipment—including chillers, heat pumps, hydronic systems, and multi-fuel burners—installed in factories, concrete plants, and commercial facilities.
Key Responsibilities
HVAC & Refrigeration: Diagnose and service industrial chillers, heat pumps, and hydronics. Troubleshoot complex refrigeration circuits, scroll compressors, valves, and heat exchangers.
Combustion Systems: Service and tune gas, propane, and fuel-oil burners using combustion analyzers. Troubleshoot gas trains, safety shutoffs, and flame safeguards.
Electrical & Controls: Read schematics and diagnose 208–575V three-phase systems, VFDs, motors, sensors, and controllers.
Startup & Commissioning: Conduct factory-authorized startups, verify installation requirements, test system safeties, and train facility operators.
Documentation: Complete accurate electronic service reports and photos. Assist with factory testing and technical projects when not traveling.
Qualifications
Hands-on experience with heavy commercial HVAC, industrial refrigeration, burners, or boilers. (strong HVAC techs with basic combustion exposure—or industrial combustion techs with strong electrical skills—are encouraged to apply).
Solid skills in three-phase electrical troubleshooting and reading schematics.
EPA Section 608 Universal Certification preferred.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
Willingness to travel Mon–Fri frequently and work overtime while on the road.
Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varied site conditions.

Responsibilities
Experienced Heavy Commercial HVAC and Combustion Service Technician to perform startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of large commercial and industrial heating and cooling equipment.
This is a traveling field-service position supporting equipment installed at customer facilities throughout the United States. Field assignments frequently require technicians to leave on Monday and return on Friday. Overtime and extended workdays are common while traveling. Remaining out of town over the weekend is limited, although occasional weekend work or travel may be required based on customer or service needs.
- Diagnose and repair commercial and industrial chillers, heat pumps, hydronic systems, and process-temperature equipment.
- Troubleshoot refrigeration circuits containing compressors, expansion valves, solenoid valves, pressure controls, heat exchangers, receivers, accumulators, and related components.
- Evaluate refrigeration-system performance using pressures, temperatures, superheat, subcooling, compressor amperage, water temperatures, temperature differential, and flow information.
- Diagnose hydronic-system problems involving pumps, valves, strainers, piping, heat exchangers, flow-proving devices, and water-temperature controls.
- Perform leak detection, refrigerant recovery, evacuation, charging, component replacement, and system-performance verification.
- Perform preventative maintenance, equipment inspections, component replacement, and field repairs.
