POSITION: First Grade Teacher 2026-2027 School Year

PURPOSE OF ROLE :
The First Grade Teacher is responsible for creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student. Through high-quality instruction, meaningful relationships, and developmentally appropriate learning experiences, the teacher fosters curiosity, builds fundamental literacy and numeracy skills, and inspires a lifelong love of learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Create unit plans and modify them accordingly throughout the year
- Create instructional resources, activities, projects, and assessments for use in the classroom
- Plan, prepare, and deliver standards-based instructional activities in a whole group, small group, and individual setting
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Create a positive educational climate for students to learn in
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals
- Participate in ongoing professional development and collaborate with fellow teachers
- Read and stay abreast of current research in education
- Utilize data to guide instruction
- Observe, evaluate, and provide ongoing feedback about student performance
- Manage student behavior in the classroom using positive behavior supports
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and provide feedback that helps promote learning and development
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education or related field
- Experience using Understanding by Design to create instructional plans across all subject areas is strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively monitor, positively influence, and coach students
