Part-Time Personal & Family Assistant
The Goodman Family | Center City, Philadelphia
The Goodman family is looking for a part-time personal assistant to take the everyday logistics off their plate: the appointments, the grocery runs, the school pickups, and the dozen small things that quietly eat up a week. Two busy parents, two daughters (ages 7 and 11), no family nearby, and not enough hours in the day. The goal is simple, hand off what piles up so the family gets more of their time back together.
This role is strictly personal and based in and around their home in Center City, Philadelphia, an easy and walkable part of town. Once in a while it might mean swinging by an office to grab something, but the job is home life, not work.
The work is a real mix that shifts with the week. A steady rhythm of a household: grocery and Instacart orders, school pickups and activities, walking the dog, errands, gift shopping, and keeping the house stocked. Some days it is meal prep, getting lunches ready, or homework help. No two weeks look quite the same.
Above all, this role is about initiative: someone who sees what needs doing and just does it, cleans up as they go, and follows through so no one has to check twice. Someone competent, quick on their feet, and trustworthy enough to be part of a family's daily life. Comfort around dogs is a must.
What the day-to-day can look like
- Scheduling appointments and keeping the family's calendars accurate
- Grocery shopping and Instacart orders, with occasional meal and lunch prep
- School pickups and walking the girls to activities
- Walking the dog
- Running errands and gift shopping
- Keeping the house stocked and catching what is running low before it runs out
- Light tidying, laundry, helping the girls stay organized, and homework help when needed
What you need to bring
- Initiative, so you see what needs doing and take care of it without being asked
- Reliability, follow-through, and accountability, so you close the loop and clean up as you go
- The judgment and trustworthiness to be part of a family's daily life
- Comfort managing a calendar (Google or Skylight) without things getting missed
- Good with kids and comfortable around dogs
- A flexible, willing attitude, with no job too big or too small
Nice to have
- Experience as a nanny, sitter, house manager, or family or personal assistant
- A background working with children, such as teaching or childcare
