Job Description: We are seeking an individual to support a neurodivergent 60 year old man with his daily living skills and community engagement.
Location: Great Neck, Long Island
Pay: $30/hour
Hours: 2-3 hour weekly shifts in the afternoon or evenings. Potential for weekends/events
Job Requirements:
- Experience as a caregiver for adults with disabilities
- Willingness to be flexible and creative to support adults with various needs and challenges
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and experience using de-escalation techniques
- Strong communication skills
- Cooking and organization skills are a plus!
- Must be comfortable around cats
Job Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities may include some or all of the following tasks:
- Engage the client in activites like going to concerts, movies, restaurants, and introducting new interests and social groups
- Collaborate with therapists, caregivers, and family for consistent care
- Assist with daily living skills (ADLs) to ensure the individual stays safe and clean, including keeping his space tidy, supporting personal hygiene, planning weekly meals, checking/responding to messages, and scheduling social appointments
- Support with arranging group activities and coordinating transportation; accompany the individual when appropriate
- Assist with light meal preparation and cooking in collaboration with the household team
- Track and log detailed notes on wellbeing and ADL progress
- Coordinate with the client's team to ensure seamless care; participate in weekly teem meetings to review progress and discuss needs
