Job Summary
Looking for a Direct Support Staff to deliver exceptional in-home and community-based care to an individual with diverse needs. The ideal candidate will support with activities of daily living, monitor behaviors, and promote independence while ensuring safety and comfort. Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming and light housekeeping such as meal preparation, meal clean up, vacuuming to keep area clean
- Following behavior plans and HIPAA regulations
- Provide specialized care for an individual with autism
- Maintain accurate documentation of behavior observations and care provided
- Implement personalized care plans tailored to the needs
- Physical ability to actively participate in community activities to assist individual in social skills activities
- Contribute to creating a safe and nurturing environment both in-home and community integration settings
- Promote independence, learning, and positive social interaction
- Collaborate with supervisor, family, staff and multidisciplinary team to adjust program plans
- Maintain professional communication with supervisor, family, staff and multidisciplinary team
- Ensure compliance with all clinical, ethical and confidentiality standards
Candidates should have prior experience in home & community care settings. Experience working with individuals with disabilities—including developmental disabilities, autism, and speech impairment is highly desirable. Knowledge of autism, speech impairment and behavior monitoring is preferred. A background in special needs environment is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate excellent observation skills, compassion for neurodivergent populations, and familiarity with HIPAA regulations. Minimum 2 years experience working with neurodivergent individuals requiring specialized support such as autism or those with complex behavior needs.
