Position Summary
Under limited supervision, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex production machinery and facility systems in a high-demand industrial environment. This role requires strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, disciplined troubleshooting skills, and a safety-first mindset. The technician partners closely with Production, and Safety to maximize equipment reliability, uptime, and performance while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
This position is ideal for technicians who take ownership of their equipment, apply structured root-cause analysis, and are comfortable working independently on critical systems.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Equipment Reliability & Troubleshooting
- Maintain production capacity and quality by ensuring safe, reliable operation of industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues using systematic diagnostic methods.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures through observation, testing, and data analysis—not just part replacement.
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Execute preventive maintenance (PM) activities on motors, engines, conveyors, pneumatic tools, and production equipment.
- Interpret and follow OEM manuals, schematics, diagrams, and engineering specifications.
- Provide feedback to improve PM effectiveness and reduce unplanned downtime.
Electrical & Controls
- Diagnose and repair industrial electrical systems within qualifications and safety requirements, including motors, lighting, sensors, and control components.
- Work safely on 480V, 3-phase systems (training and authorization dependent).
- Support basic PLC troubleshooting (I/O, sensors, interlocks) in coordination with engineering when required.
Mechanical Repair & Installation
- Remove, rebuild, install, and align components using hand tools, power tools, hoists, and cranes.
- Inspect parts for wear, damage, and proper fit; recommend repair vs. replacement decisions.
- Install new equipment or modifications as directed.
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately document work performed, findings, and follow-up needs in the CMMS/work order system.
- Communicate equipment conditions, risks, and repair status clearly with production and leadership.
- Maintain continuity between shifts through detailed handoff notes.
Spare Parts & Resources
- Maintain inventories of critical spare parts; verify receipt and update stock levels.
- Use maintenance resources responsibly while minimizing downtime impact.
Safety & Compliance
- Strictly follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, and all company safety procedures.
- Ensure all safety guards and devices are properly installed and verified before releasing equipment to production.
- Actively support OSHA compliance and company safety standards; identify and correct unsafe conditions.
- Lead by example in PPE use and safe work practices.
Additional Responsibilities
- Support continuous improvement, reliability initiatives, and equipment upgrades.
- Perform other duties as assigned based on operational needs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, senior technicians may provide informal guidance or mentoring to less experienced team members.
Qualifications Required
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience (strong preference for heavy industrial environments).
- Proven mechanical troubleshooting capability in a production setting.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, prints, and safety procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Technical Skills
- Electrical: Experience working with industrial electrical systems; 480V, 3-phase preferred (within training and authorization).
- Hydraulics: Ability to read hydraulic schematics and troubleshoot systems)
- Mechanical: Bearings, gearboxes, drives, alignment, and general industrial repair.
- Controls: PLC troubleshooting experience is a plus (I/O, sensors, basic logic understanding).
Additional
- Basic industrial math skills (fractions, decimals, ratios, percentages).
- Consistent and reliable attendance; flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Physical Demands
This role requires standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and working in industrial environments for extended periods.

Pay: $20.00 - $40.00 per hour
