Dunnellon Christian Academy is seeking a dependable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Evening Custodian to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for our students and staff.
This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys working independently, and understands the importance of providing a clean environment where children can learn and grow.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday
- Approximately 3:30 p.m. until completion (typically 4–6 hours per evening)
- School-year position following the Academy calendar
- Most holidays, school breaks, and summer months off
- Occasional summer work may be available for deep cleaning or special projects as needed
Responsibilities
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, and sanitize classrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas based on the weekly schedule.
- Sweep and mop several designated areas daily to maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Clean and disinfect student and staff restrooms.
- Empty trash throughout the campus, replace liners, and lift large trash bags into the outdoor dumpster.
- Clean glass doors, entryways, and high-touch surfaces.
- Restock restrooms and cleaning supplies.
- Report maintenance concerns or safety hazards to the Facilities Manager.
- Assist with occasional deep cleaning projects during school breaks or summer months as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment.
Qualifications
- Previous custodial or commercial cleaning experience preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and dependable attendance.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds, including lifting large trash bags into a dumpster.
- Ability to perform bending, stooping, walking, climbing stairs, standing for extended periods, and other physical tasks throughout the shift.
- Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer guidelines.
- Reliable transportation.
- Must complete an FDLE Level 2 Background Screening (required for all school employees).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience cleaning schools, churches, childcare facilities, or commercial buildings.
- Basic knowledge of minor building maintenance is a plus.

Pay: Competitive and based on experience.
Pay: $16.00 - $21.00 per hour
