DEFINITION:
The Unit Clerk/Unit Secretary facilitates non-clinical processes of communication between nursing, medical staff, patients, families and all other hospital departments. Responsible for specific assigned area and all related duties for that area. Exercises sound judgment in making routine decisions and seeks assistance in more complex decisions. Handles confidential information appropriately.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School graduate
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:
1-2 years of hospital experience as a unit secretary. Medical terminology, keyboarding and secretarial skills.
