Althea’s Footwear Solutions located in Lakewood, WA is hiring for the part-time Administrative Assistant position. This is a hybrid position which involves assisting our Medical Records Specialist with office duties as well as selling on the retail sales floor as needed. The Administrative Assistant will work closely with the Medical Records Specialist and the Store Manager assisting with the following roles;
Job Description
- Compiling and maintaining patient records files.
- Reviewing medical documents for completeness and then assembling files in alphabetical filing system.
- Utilizing computer database to enter and retrieve patient information, correspondence, reports and notes.
- Routes medical files to the appropriate personnel.
- Ensuring that patient medical records and insurance forms are completed accurately.
- Contacting patients to schedule appointments and follows up with patient’s requests for information.
- Maintains patient information in compliance with HIIPA privacy requirements.
- Answers phone and responds to voicemail messages.
- Interacting with physician’s offices, insurance companies and the Veteran’s Administration.
- Assisting and advising retail customers with the proper shoes to fit their needs.
Job Requirements
- Must be extremely proficient using Microsoft Office 365.
- Experienced in database management.
- Maintaining confidentiality of patient’s records and information.
- Excellent customer service skills when interacting with patients and customers both in person and on the phone.
- Must have the ability to multi-task and be comfortable working on multiple tasks.
- Excellent people skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
- This is a hybrid position. The ideal candidate must be comfortable performing administrative functions as well as being comfortable and competent to be on the sales floor helping retail customers as needed.
- Must be personable, professional and enjoy helping patients and customers. Retail sales experience is helpful, but not required. Training will be provided.
Compensation
- Starting wage is $20.00 per hour.

Althea’s Footwear Solutions works extensively with insurance companies and the Veteran’s Administration providing footwear, custom foot orthotics and expert fitting for diabetics and others with medical footwear needs. We are also a walk-in comfort shoe store serving retail customers. We carry shoe sizes and widths that the typical shoe store doesn’t and we pride ourselves on expert shoe fitting and customer service. We have two Certified Pedorthists on-staff to serve our medical patients and shoe fitting experts to help our retail customers.
