General Description: This is a clerical position in the General Services Department. The incumbent provides support services to all County departments to include sorting and delivery of mail and other documents to various locations throughout the County, data entry, filing and other general office functions.
Organization: The Mail Carrier position reports to the General Services Administrative Manager and supervises no staff.
Essential Functions:

Manages all in-coming and out-going County mail as detailed below.

Retrieve mail from the local Post Office and designated drop boxes and sort for delivery to County offices, Courts and state agencies located on the County Complex and at designated County office locations throughout the County.

Track postage meter, postage due, business reply and bulk mailing accounts to ensure adequate funds are available at all times.

Meter and ensure delivery of all mail collected during the day to the Post Office.

Prepares monthly financial reports as needed and checks figures to verify accuracy of financial documents. Maintain documents in files.

Responsible for ordering necessary paper supplies.

Performs related administrative work as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires a basic knowledge of and skill in mail processing equipment, Ability to assess short-term needs with regard to maintaining an adequate inventory of supplies and materials. Ability to organize, prioritize work and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. Basic knowledge of records maintenance and ability to maintain general office records. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with County officials, employees and the general public. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office computer programs, preferred.
Education, Experience and Training: High school or equivalent required with at least one year experience working with confidential files preferred - OR - Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
