The Vet2Vet Peer Mentor conducts outreach, support, and guidance for military Veterans and their families in Westchester County to increase social connectedness and facilitate utilization of available benefits and resources. The Peer Mentor works closely with assigned individual clients while also participating in the conduct of Vet2Vet events, which bring Veterans and their families together to encourage social wellness.
JOB SUMMARY
Family Services of Westchester is seeking a Part-Time Peer Mentor to join out Vet2Vet Program located in White Plains, NY.
The Peer Mentor position is part-time, with variable weekly hours based on client needs and program activities.
RESPONSIBILITES
- Establish and maintain regular contact with assigned Veterans through in-person meetings and other forms of communication
- Utilize shared experience to provide attentive mentorship, social interaction, and welfare monitoring to assigned Veterans
- Guide assigned Veterans to appropriate resources and assist them with contact and application processes
- Accurately report interaction with assigned Veterans to the program director through established reporting systems
- Assist with other program duties and events as assigned by program director
