Program Summary:
In partnership with First 5 Yolo, Northern California Children’s Therapy Center operates a home visiting program in Yolo County called ParentChild+. This is a FREE one-on-one early home-visiting learning model in which child development specialists who share a community connection with families, meet one-on-one in-home with parents and their 16–48-month-old on a recurring twice-weekly basis. The goal will be to support parents in preparing their children for academic success and strengthening families & communities through to intensive, consistent, in-home education.
Position Summary:
The PC+ Early Learning Specialist will work directly with families and children providing home visits. During these home visits, the ELS will share educational toys and materials with the parents and instruct them on how to use these materials to promote early learning and development. Under the direct supervision of the Site Coordinator the ELS will use a parent coaching model to teach effective learning skills to promote early education and school readiness.
Essential Duties:
Program Delivery:
· Conducts home visits for up to 13 families
· Visits assigned families twice a week, for thirty minutes each visit.
· Brings a new educational book or age appropriate toy during the introductory visit each week.
· Models for the parent appropriate ways to verbally interact with the child using the educational toy or book, during both the introductory visit and review visit each week.
· Creates an environment in which the parent feels comfortable and supported in participating.
· Respects the role of the parent as the child’s first and most important teacher.
· Monitors families’ progress in a pro-active and comprehensive manner.
· Complies with program goals, objectives and action plans.
· Demonstrates responsibility for the toys and books issued to you.
· Learns techniques for using the toys and books to increase verbal interaction between the parent and the child.
· Is supportive of other Early Learning Specialists and staff.
· Maintains privacy of all families assigned, and show good judgment in the discussion of sensitive family issues at staff meetings and personal conferences with Coordinator or Director.
Documentation and Reporting:
· Documents activities of families (keep a log and other records as needed or required).
· Submits timely and accurate activity and program reports on a weekly, quarterly, and annual basis.
· Enter data into Daisy. PC+ database.
Other Duties:
· Supports and complies with the values, policies, and practices of Children’s Therapy Center.
· Actively participates in agency life and program activities. This includes school and agency meetings, supervision
· Abides by the agency’s confidentiality policies and is aware of HIPPA rules.
· Supports the outcomes of the PC+ contract, as well as overall contractual goals of the Early Learning/PC+ Program.
· Works as part of the CTC team and agency programs.
· Integrate program services into those of other CTC programs to benefit participants.
· Provides occasional support or consultations as needed to promote Early Learning services with other CTC programs or to external agencies.
· Submits expenses, timesheets/ leave requests or other administrative requirements to supervisor in a timely fashion.
· Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Site Coordinator or Executive Director.
Minimum Qualifications and Characteristics:
· Strong direct community connections to Yolo County families & children
· Basic Knowledge of Yolo Counties resources
· Fluent in Spanish a plus but not required (verbal and written)
· Experience in Early Childhood Education and learning
· Experience working with young children or parents and/or with community-based organizations.
· Is flexible in the home setting, can respond to a variety of circumstances as they occur, and shows good judgment in seeking support and guidance when needed.
· Enjoys working independently and carrying out work responsibilities without daily supervision
· Education and training in Early Childhood Education or related field a plus
· Proficiency with MS Office software
· Understanding of technology and use of databases
· Strong customer service orientation, and experience working in a busy environment
· Excellent and tactful communication skills, including interpersonal, written and presentation
· Strong emotional intelligence, empathy, and perspective taking skills
· Collaborative thinker, able to function successfully in a team
· Able to uphold the values and philosophy of the organization
· Able to maintain confidentiality regarding clients, families and organizational operations
· Warmth and patience in dealing with toddlers and families.
Working Conditions Essential Physical Functions:
· Must be able to access clients at all locations served by CTC and places frequented by clients.
· Wide range of physical activities – from sitting long periods to bending, stooping, to frequent walking. Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
· Position requires driving whenever necessary to meet all client and participant needs.
· Valid CA state driver license and car insurance are required per state law
· Position may require occasional work on some evenings.
Essential Mental Functions:
· The incumbent works in a busy office environment with frequent interruptions and limited quiet time. Incumbent must sustain concentration, follow a set of procedures and organize own work. Work requires precise detail and adherence to project deadlines. Work requires constant collaboration and work as part of a dynamic team. Work requires excellent emotional intelligence.
Salary range:
50K-56K Depending on experience
