Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support a charter school caseload of 10-14 students. In this role, you will support a licensed occupational therapist in delivering high-quality, reliable and consistent therapy based on the students' IEP goals. Responsibilities
- Implement treatment plans designed by the licensed occupational therapist, including therapeutic exercises and manual handling techniques.
- Support pediatric occupational therapy programs focused on childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder interventions.
- Collaborate closely with teachers, administration and speech-language pathologists—to ensure cohesive student care.
- Facilitate student transport within the school campus to deliver consistent therapy services in various environments if needed.
- Maintain accurate care documentation, progress notes, and treatment records in compliance with AZ department of education terminology standards.
- Follow school and classroom protocols
Qualifications
- Valid certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) from an accredited program.
- Prior experience working in a school setting is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy to support effective treatment plan implementation.
- Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders, disabilities, is desirable.
- Proficiency in care documentation, and caregiver or client communication skills.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely while supporting patient mobility and transfers.
- Familiarity with pediatric occupational therapy techniques for childhood developmental delays and autism spectrum disorder is a plus.
